Description:
New York: The Viking Press, 1967. First edition of the author's classic first book. Octavo, original black cloth. Association copy, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper in a contemporary hand to her neighbor, "To Mae Cosgrove- I hope you enjoy my book! Best wishes, Susie Hinton 1967." Fine in very good dust jacket with some light wear to the extremities. Jacket design by Richard M. Powers. An exceptional association. Published when she was only 18, Susan Eloise Hinton’s first book was praised as "an impressive performance a book alive with the fresh dialogue of her contemporaries" (New York Times). It was the basis of the acclaimed Francis Ford Coppola film, starring Tom Cruise, Rob Lowe and Diane Lane.
